Reviews
The Eco resort is well appointed, if you get a tent with a bathroom, well worth it, as you also get mains power, but bring a power board.
The breakfast are good, and dinner simple but tasty. Be prepared to pay big time for ice.
You will need to spend at least two nights here, to visit the awesome canyons. Namely Fern pool and Kermit pool. A short walk from the tent is a great canyon too, and the sunsets and rises are worth it.
Recommend you bring a fly net, they can become unbearable.
Only thing the Retreat needs is a pool, and to see more of the indigenous owners, rather than overseas student back packer's.
Staff was really helpful and lovely. Ashame there is no sink to wash the dishes after cooking, we have to wash in the toilet ones. Only 2 showers and some campsites are really far away. But great location especially to go to Joffre Gorge walking.
A beautiful spot to stay in an overall spectacular location in WA.
We stayed in our own camper trailer in the camping/caravan/own tent part.
There was a nice amount of space between camp sites for some privacy and peace. Everyone appeared respectful of the area, quiet time and facilities.
My only gripe would be the lack of toilets/showers for the size. Also the lack of privacy when using the toilet. Whether it was yourself standing around waiting to use a toilet or sitting on one, there was very little to no privacy and it was a bit embarrassing.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Karijini Eco Retreat in August 2023 and it was an unforgettable experience.
One of the highlights of our stay was the great restaurant area. We decided to indulge in a buffet dinner one night and it did not disappoint. Thank you Zac you are amazing waiter ;) The absence of lights added to the charm of the retreat, making it feel like you were truly in the middle of nowhere. The night sky was beautifully lit up by an array of sparkling stars, and we even had the opportunity to hear dingoes howling throughout the night.
I would highly recommend arriving during daylight hours to fully appreciate the stunning surroundings. The location of the retreat is ideal for exploring all the breathtaking gorges in the area, and the savanna tents provide a convenient and authentic way to experience the Australian outback.
The service provided by the Eco Retreat was exceptional. From the helpful staff to the quality food, we were truly impressed. The hot showers and flushing toilets were greatly appreciated, especially considering the remoteness of the location.
Exploring the park and its spectacular gorges was a highlight of our stay. However, I would have appreciated more information about the swimming holes and a strong recommendation to bring reef shoes for optimal exploration.
In conclusion, I would definitely return to the Karijini Eco Retreat and highly recommend it to anyone visiting this part of Australia. The tented village offers a unique and immersive experience in the Karijini National Park. Just make sure to pack extra layers for the chilly mornings and consider bringing a heater if you're not a fan of the cold. Overall, it was an authentic and unforgettable outback adventure.
I'm writing this review with a heavy heart, given our prior fantastic experience at Karijini Eco Retreat in September 2022. Back then, we enjoyed top-notch service, clean amenities, and a well-stocked minibar in our luxury tent, which justified the premium price.
Unfortunately, our recent visit was a different story. The service seemed to have taken a nosedive, with a rather disinterested reception and check-in process, and this coldness persisted throughout our 3-day stay.
We had booked the luxury tent again, expecting the same standard of excellence. However, we were let down by the insufficient cleanliness and a poorly stocked minibar that was only a fraction of what it had been during our last stay, and wasn't replenished daily as previously experienced.
The restaurant, which was a highlight of our previous visit, also disappointed us this time around. The food quality and cleanliness had declined significantly. After one meal, we decided not to return.
To be frank, I've experienced better service, cleanliness, and meals at mine sites, which is quite disconcerting for a 'luxury' retreat. The inconsistencies between our two visits are concerning, and it's with regret that I cannot recommend Karijini Eco Retreat as I once would have.
It's my sincere hope that this feedback prompts some improvements for future guests.
I spent a night at Karijini Eco Retreat, and it was a mixed experience. The campground was fully booked, and it's unfortunate how some people reserve spots and then don't show up, limiting availability for others.
While I would have liked to extend my stay, the only option available was the expensive glamping, which seemed a bit steep for just a tent and a bed. Opting for basic unpowered camping, I found the facilities decent for a night's stay.
One highlight was the enjoyable happy hour, providing a pleasant atmosphere to unwind. The on-site restaurant served good food, offering a convenient option after a day of exploring the nearby gorges. The proximity to the gorges made it convenient for daily hikes, enhancing the overall experience.
In hindsight, securing a spot for a longer stay would have been ideal, but the limited availability didn't permit that. Karijini Eco Retreat is a suitable choice for those willing to splurge on glamping or content with basic camping facilities, especially if you appreciate a convenient location for exploring the beautiful gorges in the area.
The Eco Retreat Team made sure our family were comfortable and helped out with any questions my kiddos and I had. There are limited ablutions, though don't let that ruin your time there. Make sure to carry enough water when walking the gorges and bring good walking shoes.
Booked in for two nights but leaving as soon as possible. Stayed in the camping area. For $44 you get a gravel lot, with what looks like used toilet paper in the grass and other gross additions. But no wonder people are going to the toilet …
